Waiting for the enlightened one

Monks waiting for Dalai Lama
Monks waiting for Dalai Lama

After a long overnight drive from Delhi we entered Dharamshala and proceeded towards our hotel. We saw a line of monks on the road waiting for someone. We stop our jeep to enquire and were thrilled to know that Dalai Lama is back from his US visit and is on his way to his residence, and will be passing this way. It was an amazing site to see these monks, all standing there, old and young, men and women, in a perfect line across the thin edge, disciplined, without anyone asking them to, ensuring they don’t overcrowd at any point.

Sure enough within 5 mins, Dalai Lamas caravan sped though and it was nice to get a glimpse of him, even for few secs. How the hopes of everyone was held on to this one old man is astonishing.
