Twilight at Agonda beach – Chattai

It’s funny how modernization evolution and lifestyle adaptations take away something we crave the most… calmness.

 

My first visit to Agonda was a bit disappointing, it did not feel as exciting as Colomb beach, or Palolem. However a few days later I landed up on this beach to spend a weekend.

 

If isolation is what you seek, this is exactly where you find it. Very few people on the beach, and the restaurant is usually empty. The rustic wood chairs and tables add to the ambiance, and the view is nice. It is a peaceful break-away from all the other heavily commercial beaches in Goa, but not so isolated that you cannot get beer (very important) or a decent meal.

 

These snaps were taken while I was walking around the beach and within the Chattai (which means mat in Hindi, because the cottages are covered in wooden mats made from bamboo).

 

The twilight was a moment of meditative awareness, as I sat in silence, breathing in the beauty around. Imagine, no traffic, no honking, no TV, no radio, no cellphones ringing, no people talking, no machine sounds, not even a fan.. just silence, with a hint rhythmic waves and a scene which makes you believe in God (temporarily at least).

 

A must visit place for everyone seeking calmness.

 

The beach and the restaurant images were clicked at ISO 800 because of low light, with software solution to remove noise, and the lampshade shot was taken at ISO 400. The beach snap has an aperture of f/9 to get everything sharp, while the lampshade was at f/4 to get the blur effect (depth of field).
